French audio manufacturer Pier Audio has introduced its newest integrated amplifier, the MS-1000 SE. This hybrid model combines a tube-based preamplifier with a transistor power amplifier, delivering 20W per channel in Class A mode. When additional power is necessary, it switches to Class AB operation, offering 150W per channel at 8Ω, and nearly doubling that output to 300W at 4Ω.

A notable aspect of the MS-1000 SE is its tube rectifier in the input stage, utilizing a double 6Z4 or 6U4 diode. The design also incorporates several vacuum tubes, specifically 6N11 models, which can be seen through a glass panel on the front, illuminated in amber. A centrally located VU meter provides real-time signal level readings, enhancing both functionality and visual appeal. The amplifier is available with either a black or gold front panel, with corresponding color options for the remote control.

The rear panel is equipped with various connectivity options, including two RCA line inputs, a PRE-IN input for an external preamplifier, and a dedicated phono input for MM cartridges. To ensure user safety, the production models come with a removable protective glass panel, which prevents accidental operation in power amplifier mode without an external preamplifier, thereby avoiding potentially damaging signal impulses to connected speakers.
For user convenience, the MS-1000 SE features built-in Bluetooth connectivity, allowing for wireless audio streaming from external devices. This feature can be activated by connecting the included Bluetooth antenna to the designated socket on the rear panel.
