French company Jadis produces amplifiers that feature tube circuits in all their models. Additionally, they offer two DACs, the JS2 SL and the JS5. Both the Jadis JS5 and JS2 SL utilize triode vacuum tubes in their signal paths, along with dedicated DAC chips for each channel and multi-stage power supplies. While the JS5 serves as the premium model, many of its technological advancements are also present in the more affordable JS2 SL.
The Jadis JS5 incorporates four dual triode vacuum tubes within its signal path, complemented by two pentodes that manage the external power supply (2 x ECC82, 2 x ECC88, 1 x EL84, and 1 x EF86). Since its inception in 1983, Jadis has produced its transformers in-house, allowing for precise customization to meet the specific requirements of each application.
To minimize noise and maximize headroom, the power supply features separate custom-wound transformers for both the digital and analog stages. The digital-to-analog conversion is performed by an eight-channel Sabre ES9038PRO 32-bit DAC chip utilizing Hyperstream technology. The device offers four digital inputs, while the analog audio signal is available through RCA and XLR outputs.
Jadis JS2 SL
The JS2 SL is essentially a simplified variant of the JS5, yet it retains much of the advanced technology found in its pricier counterpart, particularly in terms of circuit design and build quality. This model includes an internal power supply and transformer. It is equipped with four ECC82 double triodes. Digital-to-analog conversion is handled by ES9038PRO DAC chips. Additionally, the JS2 SL offers both cinch and XLR output options.
