Polk Audio introduced the Signature series five years ago – and now it’s time to modernize it. “We decided to take a great speaker line and make it even better,” said Frank Sterns, President of Polk Audio. This is how a new line called Signature Elite was born.
Signature Elite is a collection of Hi-Res Audio certified speakers. It will allow, for example, to create home theater systems compatible with Dolby Atmos.
The lineup includes three floor towers, two center channel speakers (slim and full-size), two bookshelf models and a wall loudspeaker that can be used as a surround speaker and acoustics for “overhead” channels.
According to Polk Audio, all eight Signature Elite models feature Dynamic Balance-optimized bass and midrange drivers with mica-reinforced polypropylene cones.
At high frequencies, terylene dome tweeters come into play. Their range is approximately double that of human hearing.
Optimized crossovers distribute frequency bands between the Signature Elite speakers. In addition, almost all Signature Elite speakers are equipped with proprietary Power Port bass reflexes.
The enclosures have been reinforced to improve acoustic inertness. The manufacturer has promised that the Signature Elite speakers will be more sensitive, more “comfortable” for the amplifier and, undoubtedly, more pleasant in sound.
In the US, the prices for Polk Audio Signature Elite acoustics are already known: floor standing models ES50, ES55 and ES60, respectively – 350, 450 and 500 dollars apiece. The “top” (surround) module ES10 is $ 250 per pair, the compact ES15 and ES20 shelves are respectively $ 300 and 400 per pair, the thin ES35 center channel system is $ 400, and the full-size ES30 is $ 300.
