The American company Magico LLC describes its TITAN 15 subwoofer as “a new pinnacle of engineering and design vision for a superior quality subwoofer.”
The TITAN 15 features a sophisticated control center, a force-suppressing dual counter-driver arrangement, and a massive sealed aluminum body. The subwoofer range is beyond human hearing (> 20 Hz).
The newly developed 15-inch driver in the TITAN 15 is optimized to deliver maximum output (136dB) while minimizing distortion at 20Hz (>1% THD), according to Magico. Rigid aluminum cone with optimized stiffness-to-weight ratio includes a 4″ high temperature voice coil with 1.6″ linear movement in each direction.
Each driver (there are two in the TITAN 15) has a massive magnet system that can handle 3200W of continuous power and features an ultra-stable magnetic field with multiple aluminum rings to stabilize inductance and minimize distortion.
The body design of the TITAN 15 follows the proprietary QSUB platform and uses internal bracing along with improved damping materials. The FEA structural elements optimization software was used during the design process.
The TITAN 15 includes two 3200W class D amplifiers controlled by an electronic crossover and a proprietary DSP control center that allows the user to precisely calibrate and match the subwoofer for listening. System integration and operation is convenient with multiple inputs, 3 presets, automatic signal detection, automatic shutdown, limit sensor and thermal protection.
The TITAN 15 subwoofer weighs 177kg and has a suggested US retail price of $32,000.
