At an exhibition in Munich in the spring of 2022, the Danish company Gryphon Audio Designs presented a prototype of the new EOS 2 acoustic systems , which should replace the Mojo S monitors in the Gryphon acoustics nomenclature. And photos of serial copies of the model have been published online.
Unlike its predecessors, the EOS 2 is a floor-standing loudspeaker made in pyramidal enclosures. At the same time, the speakers remained two-way – the high-frequency spectrum was entrusted to a tweeter with a beryllium dome with a diameter of 1.3 inches (38 mm), the rest of the operating range is served by a driver with a laminated carbon fiber cone with a diameter of 7 inches, manufactured by SB Acoustics.
The crossover frequency is chosen quite low – 2 kHz. The low-frequency driver works in a phase-inverted acoustic design – and, depending on the specific installation conditions, you can use the phase inverter port either on the front or on the rear wall of the case. “Switching” is carried out by special plugs.
At the same time, the manufacturer declares the operating range of acoustics from 24 Hz to 40 kHz with an unevenness of +/- 3 dB, a sensitivity of 91 dB and a minimum impedance of 4 ohms. This way the Gryphon EOS 2 won’t be too much of an amplifier load.
