Scottish loudspeaker manufacturer Fyne Audio has expanded its F 1 series with the introduction of the new Fyne Audio F 1-8 S floorstanding speakers . The F1-8S is equipped with a proprietary 8-inch (200 mm) IsoFlare coaxial radiator, which is used in the F1-8 shelf model introduced earlier .
In fact, the F1-8S can be seen as the reincarnation of the F1-8 shelf monitor in a floor-standing design. The result is a speaker similar to the larger F1-10S and F1-12S, but in a more compact package. At 1,086mm high, 335mm wide and 445mm deep, each speaker weighs an impressive 30kg.
The new Fyne Audio F1-8S speaker system has improved the IsoFlare coaxial driver mount, and the crossover circuitry has been changed to accommodate drivers in a larger cabinet. The IsoFlare coaxial speaker works almost like a point source of sound – ideal in terms of phase consistency of the emitters. A 25mm magnesium dome compression tweeter is mounted in the center of a 200mm mid/bass driver cone mounted on FyneFlute’s proprietary suspension.
The Fyne Audio F1-8S speaker rests on a larger metal sandwich base, which is part of the company’s BassTrax bass port system, and also provides stability with adjustable spikes.
Like all models in the F1 series, the F1-8S floorstanding loudspeaker is designed and manufactured to Fyne Audio’s exacting standards in its Glasgow factory. The model is offered in a single luxury finish with Piano Gloss Walnut veneer. The Fyne Audio F 1-8 S floorstanding speakers have a suggested retail price of £13,000 for a pair of speakers in the UK .
